01 Around the Estate
The Saussard Estate is bordered by several houses. The caretaker’s house, home to a dedicated couple who live there year-round. The Fishermen’s cottage is a charming house which can accommodate up to 4 guests. A small henhouse where hens provide fresh eggs all year long.
02 The river
The Epte river runs through the Saussard Estate. You can stroll along the riverbanks.
The river dam is an impressive structure dating back from the 18th-century. It controls the river’s flow and forms a waterfall, to the delight of the families of endemic mallards.
It is not unusual to observe the ducks having fun gliding over the stream.
03 Parkland and trees
The Park du Saussard has many tree species. There are stunning examples among which the most regal and majestic are the 300-year-old plane trees. Some are among the oldest specimen in Europe.
You will love walking through unspoilt nature and strolling through the lush greenery.
04 The Château
A French home filled with History. Built on Viking grounds, it was designed to withstand invasions before turning into this elegant architecture.
Two magnificent towers were added to the main building structure. One of them dates back to the 16th-century and comes from the riverbanks of the Loire river.
